You Do Not Have to Carry your Grief Alone
This might sound familiar
You don’t feel like yourself anymore and do not recognize the person you have become which is terrifying.
You are afraid if you start crying, you will never stop. The grief feels overwhelming and you want to push your emotions away, hoping they will disappear.
You are unsure how to move forward without your person because it feels as though your future disappeared with them.
You feel alone, even when you are with people because it feels that no one understands what you are going through.
You are struggling to find meaning again because the version of you that you have always known has been changed forever.
Meet Heather Hargrove, LCPC
Grief Therapist in Overland Park, Kansas
Hi, I’m Heather. I help adults experiencing grief from the impact of loss so that they can feel a sense of purpose, trust themselves again, and begin to feel safe when life has been turned upside down.
This work is important to me. Through my own personal experience, I know what it’s like to feel scared and uncertain, feel that no one understands, and to not trust this new life you are in, to be safe. That lived understanding shapes how I show up in the therapy room - with understanding, care, and a place you can feel safe.
Therapy is not about having all the answers before you begin; it’s about having a space where you don’t have to figure everything out by yourself. If you’re feeling stuck, misunderstood, or tired of repeated patterns and pain, I can offer a way to move forward at your own pace.

My fee for services is $150 per 50-minute session.
I am currently considered to be an out of network mental health provider.
I am happy to provide you a superbill each month to give to your insurance. Please check with your insurance about your out of network mental health benefits - many of my clients are able to get reimbursement from their insurance.
Why you should consider working with an “out of network” therapist:
No limitations on sessions. We can meet for as long as you need without having to worry if insurance will cut us off, or end coverage, which could abruptly end your care.
Allows me to offer you more flexible, personalized, and intentional care.
Helps me keep your information completely confidential, without needing to share diagnosis or notes with insurance companies.
Allows us to avoid surprise billing issues, which can lead to lapses in treatment.
Lets us focus on what’s best for you, not what insurance says is best for you!

I meet with clients once a week for a 50-minute session.
Research shows that weekly therapy is the most impactful. With this in mind, I ask that you commit to weekly sessions for the first 6 months of therapy to establish care and get the support you deserve. I reserve biweekly therapy appointments for those who are transitioning out of therapy.

In our first session, we will review intake paperwork together. We will talk about how you are feeling about starting the process, and we will collaborate on what feels important to you. The first few sessions may feel like a bit of story telling to catch me up on your history. I also work intentionally to check in and make sure that our work is still feeling like a good fit for you.
